Silent Hill
Reviewed by Greatest One
Resident Evil may be the best survival horror game, but
Silent Hill is definitely the freakiest and scariest. The
story will have you scratching your heads and the game will
cause some people to have wet pants. This is true survival horror.
The game features a young writer by the name of Harry Mason.
He lost his wife to an illness a few years ago and now lives
with his 7 year old daughter, Cheryl, whom he loves very
much. Father and daughter are on their way to Silent Hill, a
popular vacation spot. On the way, they get into an accident
and Harry is knocked unconscious. When he wakes up, Cheryl is missing.
The point of the game is to find Harry's daughter while
uncovering the horrors in Silent Hill. Silent Hill may be a
popular tourist spot, but it holds some dark and deadly
secrets. The way the game is presented makes it even scarier.
The best part is the lighting. There is always an eerie fog
throughout the entire city. This allows you to just see a
few feet in front of you. Everytime a monster appears, the
fog makes it scarier, cause you don't realize it until the
last minute. Also, whenever the game gets dark, you switch
on a torch which provides barely enough light to see you,
making it even scarier.
The story is quite confusing and you need a clear head to
understand it. When you finish the game, you probably will
go,'Wait, that's it, its over?' The game is very bloody
with quite a few gruesome scenes. The Mature rating fits it perfectly.
Graphics: 7.
Graphics can be a little grainy sometimes. The monsters look
ghoulish and the lighting makes this game very scary.
Sound: 9.
The sound is great as a spooky noise is present throughout
the game. The monsters sound freaky.
Gameplay: 7.
The game isn't hard to beat. It is similar to Resident Evil.
The controls can seem a bit unresponsive at times.
Replay Value: 8.
Five different endings add to the replay value. Even though
the endings aren't much, they are different. Also the
feature of finding special weapons increases this score.
Overall: 8 out of 10
Unless you have a strong heart and an imaginative mind,
don't go to Silent Hill. Otherwise, the trip is worth your moolah.
