Silent Hill

My mind about Silent Hill, as you have probably guessed from
the title, is that it is the best game ever! In my mind, it
scores a 10 in every category. Now then, let's get to the review:
GRAPHICS: Despite being somewhat on the grainy side, the
Silent Hill graphics are still awesome! One good point, you
aren't able to see forever in front of you, you can see
about three feet in front of you, and then all you can see
is fog, so when an enemy attacks you, you can't see it
coming until the enemy's about two feet away :) And the
camera angles can sometimes get weird, but they straighten
out in no time, so I give this category a 10.
SOUND: There really isn't any sound, but the little sound
that you do hear is absolutely superb. When you get into the
FMV sequences, the voices sound like the people are in front
of you, really talking. And the music, what little there is,
sounds like a brand-new CD! Ten in this category.
CONTROLS: So easy, a baby could learn to control Harry
before he could breathe. One button shoots, one button aims,
one buttons action, one turns on the light. And, of course,
you got your four cardinal directions. That's basically it.
The camera can do some funky things, but most of the time
it's good. Sometimes you'll go into dark, eery allies, and
the camera will stay stationary for a moment, which is
really weird, but then goes back to normal. 10 for this category!
DIFFICULTY: Hard. I started a new file about 6 months ago,
and am still trying to beat it. But I guess that it's not
hard, just the fact that it's really looooong. If you try to print the
FAQ for Silent Hill, it's 62 pages long. Also, some of the
enemies are really hard, like the Zombie Doctors, they take
8-10 shots from the shotgun to die, meanwhile the Dogs take
2-4 bullets from the handgun! There are no cheat codes to
this game, which adds to the difficulty factor. Since I like
my games hard and tough, I give this a ten.
REPLAY VALUE: Excellent. You can play it for well over a
half a year and still be lovin' it like the day you got it,
provided that you have a memory card with at least one block
free :-) The difficulty and length of the game define this
category, and both are at the max, so the replay is great.
BUY/RENT: Definitely buy, even though it costs $40-50. Once
you play it, you're hooked on it, and you can't quit
playing. Well worth every single penny spent.
OVERALL: I recommend this game to gamers who don't get
scared easily, like those who like Resident Evil. Even
though it's rated Mature, the worst thing you see is a
decapitated body, which I first mistook it to be a
grotesque, overgrown plant, so it really isn't violent.
Silent Hill deserves a ten out of ten, and keep up the good
work, Konami!
Overall: 10 out of 10
