Resident Evil 2
Reviewed by Greatest One
Zombies run amok across the city, victims of an experiment
gone wrong. They attack everything in sight and there are
only a few survivors. Sounds like the script to a Living
Dead movie, doesn't it. Resident Evil 2 follows a similar
storyline, except that its story is very well developed.
You can play as two characters, Leon Kennedy, a rookie cop
on his first day on the job, and Claire Redfield, sister of
missing S. T. A. R. S. member, Chris Redfield. Both arrive at
Raccoon City only to find that everyone is a zombie now.
Clueless, they fight for survival, while uncovering what
happened to the once beautiful city.
This game probably is one of the scariest video games to
date. The grizzly monsters and the spooky sound effects just
enhance the fear factor. Play this game late at night, and
you'll be looking around corners for zombies and monsters.
Fans of the first game will no doubt love this awesome
sequel. With incredible graphics and superior sound, RE2 is
one of the few sequels that could be better than the original.
Graphics: 8.
The graphics in the game are great, especially the fmv's .
The zombies look hideous, with torn skinand protruding
flesh. The game does suffer from some occassional slowdown, though.
Sound: 9. 5.
The sound is what makes the game so scary. Walk into a
perfectly quiet room, and with a loud crash you encounter a
hideous monster. The spooky music is first rate too.
Gameplay: 7.
The game isn't too hard. Some of the secrets require you to
beat the game without saving and that too isn't too difficult.
Replay Value: 8.
The addition of the 4th Survivor secret makes it worth
playing again. Also, you see different things when you
choose different characters.
Overall: 9.5 out of 10
This is one of the playstations best releases. The only
drawbacks are that the game isn't too difficult or too long.
