Reviewed by Dyson Turner This comes as no surprise to me lousy arcade game, lousy N64 game and lousy Playstation game. The only difference here than with the Arcades is loading time other than that another good arcade port turned bad because the arcade was bad to start with it. Visuals 8. 0/10 The graphics are great and look like an exact arcade duplicate. The same size and structure, everything is seem less and flawless. The 3D characters like Rayden and others look truly great. All and all you can't ask for a better Arcade to home port than this. It is only out shined by its Arcade Counter part. Audio 7. 5/10 The music sounds just as good, if not better than what was heard at the arcades as well. The high pitched male screams have been replaced as well, with deeper ones that were found in the arcade version and the first MK. You still had good Karate yells, and the brutal hit connection sounds. All in all the graphical and sound department was pretty good. Game Play 2. 0/10 This is where all the problems step in, for some reason I love 3D in other fighting games but on Mortal Kombat it doesn't look or feel right. The cheap and effective kick has been replaced by a slower 3D kick found in most fighting games. Opponents have a quick move to avoid the cheap projectiles that I used and abused in most MK's . So cheap one-dimensional players like me had to come up with a new strategy to play this game. Well I for one will not come up with a new strategy and I want my old MK back not this new next gen garbage. Plus on top of this game just being bad there's loading time, ugh you can't get worst than that. The difficulty is intermediate and there are Memory Card saves. Overall 4 out of 10 This game is just bad. The only thing saving this from getting thrown out the window is that it is indeed a MK. The graphics and the sound those are the only good points on this game. The Replay value is particularly low this one has about as many modes as MK3 did which weren't that many. A better attempt and more though during the character selection would have got this over the average hump. Well it didn't, unless you're a bigger MK fan than I you might like this, and that's the only people who should get it am. You probably can still find MKII for PSX floating around its rare but it's a better game to get than this shame.
