Madden NFL '99

Graphics: 8: Madden finally jumps to polygonal players
instead of sprites. This is why Gameday was doing so good
against it in the football wars on PSX. The motion captured
animations are pretty doog as well. I also like the opening
FMV's too.
Sound: 10: Nobody does play-by-play better than Madden, plus
Summerall is also there to throw in his two cents. The game
has lots of voice samples of both men, some are really
unusual, for example, I was playing as the 49ers and after a
play Madden started talking about Steve Young's dad's
comments about the riding conditions in the 49ers team bus.
I only heard it once, and if you heard it you'll definitely
go into a histerical laugh. Nice theme song as well.
Gameplay: 9: Pretty good gameplay with only a few flaws.
Interceptions and fumbles are a rarity. It takes forever to
reach the pause screen during gameplay. Those are about the
only flaws. Gameplay is awesome. I love juking during my
running play to fool my opponent. Plenty of modes of
gameplay, one I love is Franchise mode where you don't have
to stop just after one season. You can keep going and go
through the NFL draft and everything. I like the game
keeping user record tabs as well. The game can be played by
up to 8 players!.
Replay Value: 10: Up to 8 players can play! Plus plenty of
options to keep you playing for hours. You'll love franchise mode!
Overall: 9: A good addition to the madden series. It was
about time the Madden series made a new gameplay engine and
it pays off. The gameday series finally has some competion.
