Madden NFL '97

Madden NFL '97 was very good and it was in fact ground
breaking for The PSX. At the time besides Quarterback Attack
this was the coolest looking Fottball game I ever seen.
Fianlly some play by play commentary witty maddenism new
ones and some older ones that sounded better than ever.
Visuals 9. 5/10
The graphics are truly and great and it is the base of all
the other Madden games, though the later ones were better
this one is still better than what was out on the market.
The fields look absolutely faboulous real logos in the
middle of the field and real colors and things in the
endzone. Graphically this game was the best Madden game on
the market.
Audio 9. 0/10
Some great music played during the intro, and option
screens. The play by play commentary from Pat Summerall was
great, Madden had his Maddenism's which came after every
play which made it seem more like a real football game, the
sound effects of the big hits and sacks and ref's voice was great.
Game Play 9. 0/10
This game is for 1 to 4 players. You had all 30 NFL teams
that were around at the time, and all the real players. You
ahd a great create your own Player mode which was better
than the 16 bit version where you had to put the guy through
training. Be warned making a guy too good, and putting him
on a great team like the 49ers, will result in going over
the salary cap, and you will have to release some key
players to fit a great guy in. You have all the old Madden
plays plus several new ones which are good and more
realistic. All the real NFL rules are here plus plays like
downing the ball to run out the clock, and spiking it to
stop the clock. The difficulty is adjustble, but the A. I. on
almost any level is very easy and you can usually get a lot
of points on them.

This game is very good, and for being the first PSX Madden
title for Playstation it shows too, but besides that many
thought when this came out that it was the best ever. well
we have better now but I still like playing this once in a
while. The replay value is high especially with friends
playing with you. I would still pick this up if your an NFL
fan and you think Madden games rule.
