Cool Boarders 3
Reviewed by Aristotle
Coolboarders 3 singlehandedly got me hooked on snowboarding
and skateboarding games, such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
This is because the game does not focus on graphics and
sound alone, but more towards gameplay and controls. Read on
to find out more.
The Graphics: These graphics are excellent, but you don't
really notice them because the gameplay is so involving.
They are great, though, and I love them because they are
perfect for the kind of game Coolboarders 3 is.
The Sound and Music: These are also perfect. The sound is
superb, with no glitches or scratchy sound, it all sounds
extremely smooth. The music is nothing to sneeze at either,
simply because the music that there is in the game is very
simple but catchy tunes. That's all there is to it, and you
also don't really notice the audio effects because the
involving gameplay.
The Gameplay: This is the best feature of the game. You are
a pro snowboarder, and you must defeat other pro
snowboarders and win many tournaments to unlock bigger and
better racers and boards. This may sound trivial, but it is
actually quite entertaining and challenging, and takes quite
a while and a good deal of skill to accomplish. This is
definitely one of the better games in the manner of
gameplay, and there are cheat codes for it to make it easier
and, for some, more fun. There are also many, many moves you
can pull off on your snowboard that allows for a limitless
number of combos.
The Difficulty: Coolboarders 3 is one of the most
challenging snowboarding games, at least in my opinion. The
computer's randomly generated point values and times for you
to try and match seem impossible to beat, but I can tell you
that it is possible; I've seen it done.
The Replay Value: This game takes approximately six months
to work yourself to a good skill level and try to go for the
gold. This takes a significant amount of time, and can be
extremely time-consuming. I find this fun, however, and like
to play it over and over again until my eyeballs bleed.
There is also a two-player mode, so the possibilities are
endless.
Overall, everyone will like Coolboarders 3. If they don't,
there is something seriously wrong with them. It offers long
replay value, excellent fun and challenge, and it looks and
sounds really nice, too. This is one of 989 Studios' better
productions.
Graphics: 10 out of 10
Sound/Music: 10 out of 10
Gameplay: 100 out of 100
Difficulty: 10 out of 10
Replay Value: 10 out of 10
Overall: 10 out of 10
Final Thought: If you're looking for an extraordinary
snowboarding game (or any sports game for that matter),
Coolboarders 3 is the game for you, my friend.
