Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This rating is for the system not the game.
Amazon is asking me how the game is with the stars. Honestly I haven't played it. But I love the system. The PS3 is a huge leap forward from the last gen consoles. It terms of hardware nothing stacks up. The 360 supposedly has the better library of games right now, but the PS3 is catching up, and now that Blu Ray has won out over HD-DVD this is a very smart choice for people who only want the system as a player, seeing as it is upgradeable.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Playstation 3
I bought this for my 14 yr old son who had wanted one forever it seems. I had originally bought the 40G and we found it was not backwards compatible with all the PS2 games I've invested in for the last few years. We returned it to find that there were no 80G available in retail. Luckily I found one online and overnighted it. We are very happy with it. It worked right out of the box and it is everything they say it is. I can't wait to try a Blu Ray disc as I just got a new HDTV to go with it. The reviews of the product were good. I read all the jargon about the other systems; failure rates, etc. and decided that Sony still was putting out a quality product. I have not yet been disappointed by a Sony product.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Broken right out of the box
PlayStation 3 80GB Motorstorm Pack
Ok well the ps3 is a good home entertainment system, it has some pluses over the 360 but not that great. I picked my ps3 up at the post office and hooked it up right away. During inital setup the system shut off. I figured it was just restarting. But after 5min of it still blinking red I opened up the book to red and told me that the system overheated. So I shut it off since room was a little warm and went to sleep for 2 hours. Tried using system again, overheated once again after 1min of use. So I called tech support and waited 20min just to talk to someone that told me things I already knew from reading the book. So for all those playstation fanboys/girls that talk down about the red ring of death on are 360's, now the ps3 has red blinking line of death.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great value for money
When you look at the price comparison between a regular Blu-Ray player and a Playstation 3, the decision of what to buy is a no brainer. With the PS3 you not only get an extraordinary Blu-Ray player, but so much more. In terms of the player, PS3 beats other options hands down in terms of loading time, which is one of the main points of criticism for regular Blu-Ray players. And then there are all the other benefits.

This new gaming system has graphics and gameplay that are out of this world. You only need to grab a game like "Heavenly Sword" to feel like the expenditure was worthwhile. The use of Bluetooth technology for the wireless controller is a big improvement over previous versions. The system reacts flawlessly and in time to the commands from the controller. And then there is the motion controller feature, which allows combining the normal type controls with a Wii type experience. Games such as Rub a Duck, which you can get from the online store, are played exclusively by using the motion control.

The online gaming works great, and using the included Motorstorm to race against your friends is a lot of fun. The game could have been better though if it allowed for multiplayer racing in the same system (i.e. splitting the screen in 2) and had a wider selection of tracks. Those that are interested in backwards integration, rest assured that the PS2 games work great on this new system. I have played several and have not had a single issue so far.

The other feature that I love about the PS3 is the wireless capability and the ability to share files from your PC. Setting up the wireless was an easy process that took less than two minutes. Even though browsing the web with the PS3 is not the easiest, it gets better if you use a keyboard and mouse (either Bluetooth or USB). Sharing your music, pictures and video from your computer is straightforward, but you will have to seek instructions on how to do it. The basic process involves going to your PC and in Windows Media Player (there are other options available in terms of software used for sharing, but most people will probably use this) you need to enable sharing and select the PS3 as one of the approved devices. Then you can use the PS3 to create slideshows with your music, for a truly relaxing experience.

If I look back at all the electronics purchases I have made in the last ten years, I would be hard pressed to find one that comes even close to this one as to the value for money it delivers. In one word: Amazing!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - PS3 + Motorstorm = Fun
I loved my PS2, I loved the games, I loved the longevity of the hardware and I loved the DVD player. The PS3 has gone waaaaaaay beyond my expectations as a gaming system, showing unbelievable graphics on my plasma TV. The new upgraded OS on the PS3 allows Hi-Def x264 to be played, with a little 1 minute conversion using TSMuxer. So far, I'm loving this console.
