I wasn't expecting Rock Band to sweep me off of my feet. I'm a drummer, guitar player, bass player, and singer, so I thought that since I play the real thing, this wouldn't appeal to me. I also wanted a game I could play with my young kids and my wife, and this seemed the best choice out there. So bit the bullet and tossed down $150 for this game, and goodness what a wise decision that was. This game is incredibly fun. I haven't seen my wife smile and get into a game like this since Wii Sports, and this clearly kicks Wii Sports to the curb and back in the fun factor category.
The best thing about this game outside of all of the fun instruments is the fact that the difficulty settings ramp up nicely. For me playing on hard is fun, and for my wife and kids they need to start at easy. The fact that you can play together at your own difficultly level, while obvious, is still something that makes this game special.
To sum it up, this game is a huge hit with me, an avid gamer, with my wife, a person that hates games, my five year old son, and my one and half year old daughter who loves to spin in circles to music.
The only negative I have is that the graphics are sub par. They clearly did a dirty port of the PS2 engine, but the rock dudes are pretty stupid looking to begin with. Luckily, you spend all of your time looking at the fretboard and words scrolling across the screen, which look great. I just hope for rock band 2 they do some serious upgrades to the graphics engine.

OK, so as far as Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Grand Theft Auto, etc.... them games are the best.... If you want a non violent, laugh your heads off FAMILY GAME, look no further.....The more wireless equiptment bought, the more expansive the band becomes, and the funner the game gets..............100% satisfied

The game is great...I mean really great, but there is one MAJOR flaw....
The drum set pedal broke....just now...snapped...
At the base there is this little dot...and smack dab through it I now have a huge crack...''It is no longer usable....at all...
I now have to either figure out how to rig it, or send it in for a replacement...this is cheap plastic molding and will not hold any serous drumming...
I don't really play the guitar much, but I suspect it has the smae weakness...they just feel...cheap...
If not for this the game would have gotten 4 stars....no Hendrix.....extra songs are extremely expensive, and they don't count toward your global ranking at all.....lame...PLUS you cant play them with anyone else unless THEY buy them too! LAME!
Edit: Just an update, there are kits out there to repair the pedal or replacement guitars that are much sturdier. I would definitely suggest investing in those things at the same time as buying this game, or you will spend a long time doing the broken item return tango with the company.

I came home to find my husband rocking out, all alone. So I joined him. Then our neighbors knocked on the door, and joined up also. Soon there were so many of us that we were all taking turns. This was just a typical Monday night after work! By the time I kicked everyone out for the night, there was no time to have dinner, fold laundry, or take the poor dog for a walk.
This game is just fun, especially for all those crazies who think they're rockstars when they're alone in the car (like us). However, if you have better things to do, keep in mind that they won't get done. This game is addictive, and the time flies by!
The guitar takes some getting used to... the 'pick' is a bit tougher than the guitar hero guitar. The rectangles are more difficult too, you REALLY have to be perfectly on time. I love creating characters though, giving them makeup and crazy hair.

Ok, I don't have a band, just me and just practicing really...and the game is still a ton of fun. Most will be comfortable with the guitar immediately, but the drums are tons of fun and take a while to get used to. You try them on easy, and think, no problem. Yeah, try the hard setting! The kickdrum makes a huge difference too, because it's like walking and chewing guy...well, you know...but even harder. The vocals are kind of the weak part the way they work, but it's still fun. This game really rocks and the songs are awesome. If you have any interest in this genre at all, you will love this game.
