I bought two of these rock bands for my grown kids for Christmas and since they were on vacation the whole week that's all they played...day and night. They had set one up here at my house and we had a blast with it. I'd recommend it to everyone!

Bought Rock Band for PS3, as a Christmas Gift for our--believe it or not-- 24 year old son. In fact it was the only gift that he asked us for, and let me tell you, he and his younger twin brothers had a blast. By Christmas night, all five of the children (30, 28, 24, 15 & 15), plus two son-in-laws, (30, 31) and three grandchildren, (8, 7, & 1) were all upstairs in the room having a blast! Literally, they were at it the entire 3 days that the oldest son was home. Now they all want the game. I would definitely say the game was a success, even if a bit pricey. Watching them all have so much fun, made it well worth the price! I would buy it again.Rock Band Special Edition

After having Guitar Hero 1 and 2, Rock Band follows in the same vein. Guitar is great as usual, it's nice being able to play bass guitar parts. Drums are hard, need more practice.
My only complaint is the microphone. In a word, it sucks. The delay between the in game singing and a players singing is terrible. It's unusable. Also, there are no controls on the mike. To use it you actually have to take a regular controller and get it set up. The guitar user can't set it up, and the drummer can't set it up, so you can't just jump in.
Be satisfied with the songs that are included because if you want to add extra songs it's going to be a minimum of $1.99 per song although grouped songs may be slightly less per song. You could drop some serious cash if you want all the additional songs that are coming out weekly. It's a plus that they are supporting additional songs but it is a cash cow.

This is one of the games I'd been waiting for since I'd first heard about it at E3. Not only was it Guitar Hero, but it was the entire band all in one.
I first had a few questions;
- What if you want to fly solo?
- Will the songs be the originals or some band covering them?
- Will this live up to everything that Guitar Hero is?
Well, you're in luck, not only can you play alone, but you can play with others via the online, LAN, or "split screen" though you share the same screen, no splitting to it.
Multiplayer:
Ok so I've started a band, be it online, or otherwise. What do I do now?
Well you set up a gig and get your band noticed so you can go play more complex songs. The better you get, the harder your songs get.
But what if I want to play guitar, and my bandmate does also? Good, you've now got yourself a Bassist and Lead Guitarist, now go find your drummer and singer.
We've started our band, and played a few songs, but one of our members is having trouble getting the rythm to ______ song, what do we do?
if it's the drummer or the singer slacking, tilt the guitar to save your bandie from causing a total failure song! Keep in mind you can only save your bandmates 3 times before the crowd goes insane and kicks you off the stage. Drummers and singers can also save bandmates by performing perfect notes or special circumstance notes.
Flying Solo:
You can unlock songs for single play here by touring on your own. You can also try to better yourself on your intrument before joining a band, try to outdo your scores to impress the leaderboards as well.
Problems:
Uh oh, there's a few issues!
When I got my copy of the game I was dismayed to find that the Microphone was not responding at all. I had two options, send it back in free of charge and replace it (they want the faulty mic back once you get your new one, so you re-use the box they gave you). Or you can use your Karaoke Revolution Microphone. Keep in mind the Rock Band Mic looks better ;)
Another issue I came across was that after a few weeks of playing Rockband the Guitar wouldn't respond properly, (which can be fixed on your own or returned as covered by it's warranty) If any of your instruments do not work right out of the box, or stop working, send them back and get your replacement. That is the only issue the game has, and it's a pretty big issue causing it to lose it's perfect score.
I reccomend the game, but be warned you may get faulty equipment.

RockBand is an amazing game. It far exceeded my expectations. Having played all of the Guitar Hero games and also the SingStar line, I was expecting some kind of hybrid between the two. RockBand is that and more. The extra buttons on the guitar make it new and different, and makes you feel like a rock star when ripping out those killer solos. The drums are alot harder than I thought they would be, but despite that, everyone fights to be the drummer. Singing is fun, I like that the mic can be used to give MORE COWBELL! The song selection is great, and if you get tired of it, there are more songs to download for it online (at least for PS3)
The only drawback I can possibly see is that you do wind up playing some of the songs over and over. However, it does make you better at them, and with many setlists you can create yourself, you will never be bored. GREAT party game. 5 stars PLUS all the way...BUY IT NOW!!!
