My boyfriend and I rented this game to see if it was worth buying. First off, I like to use a pick (a nice thick Stubby bass pick) but when I use it, the game registers it as a double hit, so I had to basically re-learn how to play without the pick. That leaves back and forth strumming out of the question. It also seems VERY inaccurate. I feel like I'm playing off beat when I hit the notes right (and I'm not even using an HDTV, which would need to be calibrated). Second, we nearly beat the game on expert within a few hours, but what should I expect after Rockin' the 80's. The bonus songs aren't very good either...usually the bonus songs make up for all the crappy set songs, but there weren't many decent ones in either department. The battling is the only cool part because you can use "weapons" and screw up your opponent. As a two player game, it's pretty cool...as a one player game, it straight sux.
All in all, I'd probably buy the game once the used price goes down a little more. It's cool to have the entire collection, but I wouldn't go out and buy the package for the newer generation systems.

Well, after playing GH 1&2, I wasn't expecting anything really groundbreaking. I was, however, expecting the best song list of the line, as many gaming sites stated.
As always, Guitar Hero stands or falls on the strength of the songs, and while there are some good songs, overall I wasn't impressed.
So three quick notes if your considering buying it:
1- Have a look at the song list first, as you will enjoy it much more with songs you know and/or like.
2- Battle Mode is silly and superfluous.
3- The saving times are much longer than previous games for some reason, and waiting 30 second after each song is very annoying

I enjoy playing this game. I am glad that it was so easy to purchase it on Amazon. My husband was very excited to get it in his stocking at Christmas. Thank you very much for helping me give him a great gift.

My 24-year-old son received Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock for his Play Station system. The clothes and other gifts got tossed aside and he has been playing his game practically non-stop since Christmas Day. I would have to say that he likes his game. The graphics are much better than Guitar Hero I and II and the music choices are unique and relevant to the new age while also including some 80's and 90's tunes. Did I say that he loves this game??
