Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - They should've called it "Patch Block Hero"
I can't see any reason to recommend buying this game. The game-play somehow just isn't as fun as previous Guitar Hero installments. I'm not going to site every problem I have but one of the things I really hate is the multi-player guitar battle. It's an idea that could have been really fun but every time I've played it, my opponent and I both wind up hanging in there until it goes to sudden death and the first one to make more than one or two mistakes loses. You can make it through the entire song and build a big lead but as long as your opponent doesn't fail, your lead means nothing. It makes victory or defeat seem completely arbitrary.

Combine an all around disappointing game with the fact that Activision decided it would be a good idea to block a patch that would have made their far-superior guitar compatible with Rock Band and you wind up with a game that should be avoided by PS3 owners like the plague. I played it at a friend's and am very happy I didn't buy it. I'm holding out to buy Rock Band and the Nyko guitar.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - ROCK ON!
I bought this game a couple of months ago and im completely addicted to it. The music selection is great and the online play is user-friendly and not to mention FREE (unlike the XBOX 360 version). The guitar controller is wireless which is practical, it is also very solid and can definitely take a beating. Overall this is one of the best games around and i highly recommend it for guitar novices and experts alike. The easy levels are a good start even for people who have never touched a guitar and the expert levels are extremely challenging not to mention this game makes anybody look cool strumming away to rock legends' music. so go ahead ROCK ON EVERYONE!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I'm new to the series, but I still loved this game.
Guitar Hero III is an outstanding experience especialy with the new guitar. The game has a ton of songs that you will remember from the 80s, and some new, recent tracks you my or may not have heard of. The carrer mode is cool and on PSN, you can get more songs. While the game is fun, the only flaw is that the game is difficult especialy Through the fire and flames on expert mode. Guitar Hero III is a great game and I think it is better then rock band. It is worth the 90 $.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - No immediate 2nd controller on the market makes this a 4/5
If you would take away the fact that activision still hasn't released a second control for this game, making co-op useless (a sick sales catch?) this game is 5 stars. Overall, the guitar and game work perfectly and the game is loads of fun. There are 40 songs and about 30 more bonus songs that you can upload early into career mode. Despite the absence of co-op for now, the career is engaging, the music is good, the music has stylistic versatility, and each song is a new kind of challenge (speed or rhythm). The guitar responds well to your motion. even though the star power may be sensitive, it works better when sitting because you can stay in your playing groove when activating star power. Hes how I rate the game from individual catergories.

Graphics 3/5: Not much improvement and not available in 1080p.

Solo gameplay 5/5: Fun, engaging, and versatile

Song selection 5/5: very well done, good new and old music. If you dont like classic rock, the bonus songs have harder (emo, metal) and more experimental alternative music. Classics and fun surprises.

Multiplayer 0/5: sadly unavailable at this time unless you buy two bundles wasting you $60 on another game.

Depth 4/5: Without multiplayer, the game has many songs but too much paralellism between difficulty levels. Customizable features are adequate, buy unimpressive.

Bugs 5/5: In an age of sickening bugs (no pun intended) this game has just about zero major bugs and glitches (have noticed any minor ones either). Well done by the makers to test their game, but they didn't test their sales strategy.

Overall 4/5: The exclusion of a seperate controller is shocking and head-scratching, but activision released a fine product ready for the marketplace unlike some games these days. brilliant job of selecting songs and making gameplay fun, challenging, and long lasting.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - PS3 Guitar Hero III
Was disappointed at first because of guitar problems right out of the box(many complaints about the design have been posted), but figured out how to fix my issue. I have been hooked ever since, though! Very fun (and challenging) to say the least. It just kills me to miss only one note in a 400+ note song, so, I have to try and try again until I get it perfect. The ability to upload your scores to the GHIII website is really nice. It shows you how good (or bad) you are compared to all other GHIII players.
