Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - PlayStation 3 is better than the Atari 2600
I've never been a big game player; however, I love playing certain types of games and I'm a technology buff so I had to get one. I was a big fan of the Atari 2600 and later the original 8-bit Nintendo NES. I lost interest in game consoles a long time ago and decided to get the PlayStation 3 originally for it's Blue Ray playing ability, and also to see what the latest generation consoles have to offer.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great price for a great device.
As a pure gaming machine I give the edge to the Xbox 360, but to be fair this is much more than a gaming machine. You can do an assortment of things such as stream your auido/video/pictures from your PC to your TV. Bluetooth wireless (rechargeable) contrllers are great. Wireless capability right out of the box and of course Blu ray! Pretty nice package to say the least. If your just looking to play games go with Xbox 360 but if your a techie and like all the different technologies that this package encompasses, then by all means purchase this now!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great buy
I'm completely satisfied with my 60GB PS3. It has full PS2 backward compatibility, and it arrived in very good condition with a Sixaxis controller, power cord, and composite cables, just as advertised. You can save PS2/PS1 game data directly to the hard drive, so you do not need to purchase separate memory cards. Blu-Ray playback is great, and it also upscales DVDs. It plays MP3s and WMVs straight from my USB drive. If you have an HDTV, you really should get an HDMI cable to enjoy everything at high resolution. Graphics in games will look spectacular in SD or HD compared to any last gen consoles, but the difference between 1080p and 480i more than justifies purchasing an HDMI cable. Also, if you intend to use the web browser, which is very functional, the experience will be greatly enhanced by high resolution. Online wireless worked without a hitch.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The One System to Rule Them All
I waited to pick this up until the price dropped $100 and I have not been disappointed in the least. I did replace the 60GB hard drive with a 120GB for some extra storage - it was a very simple task. Sony did so much right with this system and anything that was done wrong has been corrected by system updates. The final nitpick I had was the lack of resume play for DVD or Blu-ray - this feature just got added last week along with BD Live. I mostly use it for watching movies but the games I have played have been outstanding as well. This is a great time to own a PS3 - encoding for Blu-ray movies keep getting better and several top tier PS3 specific games are coming out in the next few months.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Warning: Overheats!!
As most people know, these gaming machines get hot. Microsoft addressed the problem with a 3YEAR WARRANTY on the 360. Sony remains in denial. Our machine overheated and stopped working after @ 2 weeks of use total...over a one-year period. Sony's games just aren't as good as WII and 360, so nobody played this console much. With mediocre software and delicate hardware, I recommend that you wait until Sony addresses all their problems and focuses on the consumer, not the stock value.
