This game is one of the best flying games in the world! It's always fun to play when I'm bored. About 15 missions with 3 pilots to battle your way to save Naboo from the Trade Federation. The great graphics and many bad guys are cool. This is like real life. The last level is the best where you and your team battle with at least 40 bad guys flying everywhere in space. If you like Star Wars or any type of flying game then this is for you!

I wasn't impressed neither with the game play w/ Starfighter nor the difficulty of the game. I thought Rogue Leader PC version game and it's sequel for Gamecube is three times better in plot, graphics, and gameplay. In my eyes, this was a dissappointment to Lucas fans. Games like Jedi Knight Two: Jedi Outcast, Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, and Bouty Hunter, so far, are the best.

This game is well made. It has good graphics and gameplay. There are even a FEW missions which can be played 2 player. However, the new Jedi Starfighter game is twice as fun, and you can play all the missions 2 player on it. If you own neither one I suggest skipping this one and going right for Jedi Starfighter.

I bought this game hoping it would be like the old tie-fighter game for the PC. The gameplay very much is, the effects are good, I haven't had problems with the controls that many others have, however the game quality falls apart because of its shortness. It took me 3-4 hours to finish the game. That's it. It's over. Tie-fighter took me probably 25 hours (a rough estimate - it's been a while). I've been playing GT3 for almost 2 months and am not 50% finished it yet! This is so disappointing - Tie Fighter fit on ONE CD-Rom (650MB) and had so many great missions, Starfighter is on a DVD (4.7GB I believe) and has so few missions - it really looks like very little effort went into this game.
If this game were 4-5 times as long, it would be given 5 stars by me without hesitation. However, now that I have a ...game that I have no interest in playing - I just can't rate it favourably. So I agree with many others who have posted here; rent it first.

A decent game with great graphics but one of the primary characteristics of this game that ruined it for me is the glitches.
Whenever the screen displays Mission Success or Mission Failed, the screen jumps and on many occasions, the camara angles are out of control. During a few missions, spacescrafts turn upside down and it is somewhat difficult to get it back into an upright position.
Not long after the Dreamcast was released, I found glitches in a Ready 2 Rumble game: the opening menu began to move independently and out of control. I exchanged it for another that did not have the same problem.
As with that one, I exchanged my first copy of "Starfighter" for another with hopes that the same thing would not happen again. But was not successful.
Overall, the graphics for this game are decent considering what can be rendered by the PS2. But the game play becomes a little redundant and even after entering codes, the glitches take away from interacting in the Star Wars universe. If you are an individual that can overlook the negative aspects of this game, are looking for a moderately priced title, and are a Star Wars fan, then this game is for you. Otherwise, you should probably just save your money and wait until November 2002 when one of the next major Star Wars titles for the PS2 will be released.
