I had to buy this one so that I could replace the plug in sensor from my first purchase that I had only had a month as the cost to only replace the sensor was almost as much as a new mouse. The plug in for this wireless mouse is huge. It is over 2 inches long, and is easy to knock into things and if you accidentially drop your lap top or it falls, it will break, as did mine. The mouse functions great. I was unaware of the other similar mice that had much smaller USB plug ins, or I would not have bought this one to replace the broken Microsoft one. I would highly recommend you look at others instead of this one with the smaller plug ins that are less likely to break or bend. The plug in with this one is an accident waiting to happen. I have no idea why Microsoft made it so big. It is almost as long as the mouse. Stupid idea. But the mouse works great. Sad.
Rating: - A great laptop mouse
This is the second of this series that I owned, the first one was about 3 years ago. These mice are great. They are very sensitive to movement and the scroll wheel is nice and smooth without a loud clicking that other brands have. It has a nice arch so that even though its size is small, it fits comfortably in both large and small hands.
I usually get 5-6 months out of the battery (a single AA), and the mouse has an auto-shut down feature that enables when the USB adapter is clipped in the slot under the mouse. I like the change they have made to the USB adapter, as it is much smaller than the previous version. (my old laptop had a hard time with the side extension it had.
The frustration free packaging is well worth any extra price (it was actually cheaper when I purchased this) as there is no bullet-proof plastic you have to carve through to retrieve the mouse.
Rating: - except Vista...
It works great, I just wish the guy who sold it to me would have given me a heads up to have that I have go to Microsoft for a download for it to work with Vista.

This wireless mouse is really fun! I'm more thrilled than I thought I'd be, with the ease and simplicity of the absence of a dangling cord, always subliminally in the way, which I didn't notice until I used the wireless for the first time.
As other reviewers have noted, the tiny USB connector can be stored in an ingeniously designed compartment in the underside of the mouse. When the connector is stored there, the battery output is turned off. I've been using this wireless mouse since the middle of October, and it's still percolating in prime power. The battery is a snap to remove-replace when necessary, though the battery (AA) which came with the mouse is still working fine.
The mouse was packed with a small, handy, fold-out-card of graphic instructions, which were as simple as any electronic idiot (like me) could hope for!! I picked the slate color thinking it would blend subtly with the gorgeous black gloss finish on my Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5881 15.4-inch Laptop (2.0 GHz AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-70 Processor, 3 GB RAM, 200 Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium) Onyx Blue: See my review... speaking of which, regarding a couple epistle-type comments I posted under that review, I can report with glee that this wireless mouse has TWO reset buttons, one in the mouse and another in the USB attachment!! The resets seem to be a fix if something (maybe a stray microwave from a passing airplane?) interferes with the wireless zubas' (zoobas?) ability able to identify where they're supposed to go; my mouse's zubas haven't had any identity or directional issues.
My only complaint is I wish I had picked a brighter colored mouse... to go in style with the luxurious colors flash dancing on my new Toshiba widescreen, TruBrite display...
I can't believe how much fun I'm having with this butterfly laptop and accessories replacing my antique caterpillar laptop (wireless and almost memory-less) with its clunky accessories... I don't mean to degrade those, though; they didn't seem clunky until I upgraded (and all of them still work).
I had debated between the 14 inch Vs 17 inch screens for my new LT. I'm glad I didn't expand to the 17 inch, though that size would serve its purpose beautifully (especially for those who regularly drool over large graphics). The 14 is large enough for my needs.
While I'm chewing on cheese bits here, I'll munch and mention that I had been wondering what the big deal is with the smaller LT's, the ones with 9 inch screens...

Amazon was advertising deals on mini-laptops, so I checked them out in a physical computer store, to see from my fingertips what was the buzz. Now I know, and I'm drooling to buy one! I was surprised that a keyboard that small felt more comfortable for me (small hands) than the regular size. Being a professional writer, I type most of the time. For some unfathomable (as yet) reason, I think that if I got one of the netbooks (or whatever they're called), I would be using it most of the time. I would pay money to be able to easily move around the house and into bed, to write and research in pillow-posh luxury.
I'm thankful I studied Amazon reviews on netbooks, enough to know to one with a 5 hr battery. Here's a link to one of those: Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire Blue, and to plan ahead for the smaller capacity of Memory, which is usually not enough to power Windows Vista, so most of those mini-laptops come with Windows XP. I like both Microsoft OS's, but have quickly become spoiled with Vista. With the netbook advantages in trade-offs, though, I'll be happy to work with XP there (a few PC users even prefer XP, even for machines with large Memory capacity).
Reading Amazon reviews also prepared me for the lack of a CD Rom drive in the mini-laptops, which means I'll have to plan ahead to download programs or drivers which would normally come on CD. Of course, USB attached, external CD drives are available, but I'd probably rather download, and store whatever I need on a smartly tiny, USB flash drive.

Bottom line on all of this is that for me it's easy and interesting, actually entertaining, to study Amazon reviews for anything I want to buy, especially electronics, because customer reviewers generally write in terms I can quickly comprehend.
Okay, I apologize. My title promised "no cheese trails"... but it appears I've followed a few, for additional yummy (not cheesy) electronic devices and accessories to go with my slate mouse... (I also love this notebook case I bought: Targus TCM004US Messenger 15.4" Notebook Case)
I ask you... Should I get ANOTHER one, in a more glamorous color? A wireless mouse (that would be "mice" if I get another one) is such a cheap thrill!!

I got this a few days ago.It was a cinch to run with my new Vista laptop.
I like the size of it because I have small hands and larger mice sort of cramp up my hand after a while.
I also like the way the USB connector tucks into the mouse's underside.
So...it looks cool;fits my hand;and is easy to install.
