In Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins, you'll discover clues and follow a character-filled storyline that will lead you to a long-lost Mayan ruin. Rating: - Love hidden object games
I love to play this game. It is a good one to play and then lay down and get the housework done. You know its always waiting when its time to sit down.

You'll find this to be a decent game at best. Not spectacular. Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins is a puzzle game with 18 missions to complete. Each mission involves finding listed items hidden in a background by clicking on them.
Here's a quick rating breakdown:
GRAPHICS: 6.0
Nothing to write home about. Decent graphics that help in gameplay. Some objects are very well hidden, to the point where I'm still not sure what they were even after playing the same level several times. Leaves something to be desired. There's no intense animation. Graphics are mostly static.
GAMEPLAY: 6.5
At times slightly challenging. Some items on the search list are "disguised." For example, instead of listing "ants" you'll see "colony insects." Finding hidden items might sound easy, but this game does a pretty good job of hiding things right under your nose. However, overall the game is very repetitive and lacks excitement.
USER INTERFACE: 5.0
Not "standard" game interface. You're kinda left hanging as you're trying to switch players or navigate through the game. The end leaves you wondering if you've "beat" the game. Mediocre.
OVERALL: 6.0
Entertaining for a bit, but only if you love puzzle games and are patient. No bells and whistles. It would be a good game for waiting in a line or taking a long bathroom break. It's no Bejeweled (sorry, PopCap).
Rating: - Seek and Find fun
This is a really fun seek and find game. It's both fun and challenging. Finding the hidden objects within the ruins is not always easy but hints can help you find your way. I recommend this game for all ages, especially those who like hidden pictures puzzles, for hours of fun for the whole family.
Rating: - Repetitive and tedious
I found this game is entertaining at first, but it quickly became tedious due to the repetition.
There are 20 "missions", each consisting of a few paragraphs of a journal and 5 game "levels". Each level has a search-and-find puzzle, and then a mini-game. The mini-game's picture or background is the basis for the next search and find puzzle.
With 20 missions and 5 levels per mission, you are doing the search-and-find 100 times. But there are only 18 different scenes. So each scene is used 5 or 6 times. The image is exactly the same each of those times, but the list of things to find varies. A particular thing to find won't be on the list every time you visit the scene, but it may show up 3 or 4 times. You quickly memorize where certain key items are within each scene.
You are also doing the mini-games 100 times. But there are only 5 different games. So each game is done 20 times. How many times can you play the memory game before you are bored to tears? Also, the mini-game variety is tied to whichever search screen comes next. That means that even though you do the jigsaw puzzle game 20 times, there are only 4 different jigsaw puzzle pictures. You do the same exact jigsaw puzzle 5 times! The same is true for the tile swap puzzles - there are only 4 pictures, and you get to do each of those pictures multiple times. Yay.
There is no aspect of collecting clues and solving a mystery. You are simply reading the 20 journal entries describing an archaeologist searching for the ruins. The only tie between the gaming activities and the story is the imagery. And the imagery does not change as the story progresses.
The ending is anti-climatic. You get a final journal entry, then a message saying "You found the ancient ruin. Do you want to do the bonus screen?" And then a chance to do a 19th search-and-find.
This review is written from the perspective of a 40-ish female, who enjoys puzzle games like Professor Layton, TouchMaster, Big Brain Academy, and NY Times Crosswords.
Rating: - Addicting
Just started playing this DS game. Got it for the kids, but i wanted to try it. I don't normally play With Nintendo, but this game peaked my interest. I'm glad I played, because it's very addictive, & hard to put down. It's basically the same type of puzzles over & over, such as finding hidden objects, piecing together puzzles, matching objects, etc all to be done within a certain time. Some objects are difficult to find, but that's what the HINT key is for. The DS screen is small, so after a while you may get bleary eyed. But overall I'd recommend this game for something fun to do.
