Game Critics Awards Winner
Rockband, which took the gaming world by storm in late 2007, was followed by the highly-anticipated sequel, Rockband 2 that was released in September of 2008. With Rockband 2 came Ion's Drum Rocker Set, which quickly took the Game Critics Awards top spot in 2008's Best Peripheral/Hardware category.

Professional-Grade Aluminum Rack and Pads
While other drum controllers force you to use their configuration with a pre-molded, plastic array, the Drum Rocker's professional-grade aluminum rack lets you position your snare, tom and cymbal pads the way you want. Not only can you play your hi-hat with a right-hand crossover by placing your cymbals anywhere around your kit, but by mounting your pads to the drum rack with the included metal L-arm and clamp system, you can tilt, swivel, raise and lower the cymbals to whatever position you want.

Drum Rocker's velocity-sensitive drum pads feature an ultra-quiet playing surface and a more natural and consistent stick rebound than your average pad. The pad housing is made of a hi-impact plastic, which means that no matter how much you punish them night after night, they will always be ready for more.

The Drum Rocker's all-metal kick drum pedal is also designed to take abuse. It offers the perfect amount of tension to replicate the feeling of a real drum pedal. And keeping in line with its set-up flexibility, the kick drum pedal comes with Velcro and retractable spikes, allowing you to place it in the most comfortable position.

Go Beyond Gaming into Real Music
Built by the engineers at Alesis, one of the largest manufacturers of professional electronic drums in the world, the Drum Rocker Premium Drum Set delivers the most realistic drumming experience available to a gamer.

But when you're ready to move from playing the game to playing in a real life, you can swap the game controller module with one of the professional drum brains made by Alesis, such as their DM5 drum module, or any other drum brain that accepts a quarter-inch output. (Drum modules are sold separately.) And with the option of purchasing a third cymbal, you can round out your kit and move beyond gaming and onto the stage.

The Drum Rocker Premium Drum Set is compatible with both Rockband and Rockband 2 for the Xbox 360.

The Drum Rocker comes with cymbals, kick pedal, and drum pads.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Poor Experience
I had a horrible experience with these. Despite what many say, the cymbals do not register properly unless hit incredibly hard. It is not the fault of the cymbals themselves either. People on the Rock Bands forums have tested the cymbals with other e-kits and they work fine except with this set. The only explanation was a poorly programmed drum brain, and you cannot adjust the sensitivity. The result is a set with essentially non-functional cymbals, which totally defeats the purpose. Don't be fooled, these should register light hits and should not drop hits or require extremely hard hits. It is just poor design. Maybe they fixed the issue, but not on the ones I tried. Oddly enough the MadCatz cymbals w/ the wireless RB2 set worked so much better. ION support is awful as well. I'd recommend sticking wit the wireless set and MadCatz cymbals. This set is a poorly designed headache.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - ION DRUMS ARE GREAT!!!
These drums are a must-have for anyone who loves the drums part of rock band and rock band 2. They feel great to play, they look cool, and they are extraordinarily accurate. The cymbals work just as well as the pads, and it is so much fun to hit a crash cymbal and actually hear a crash cymbal from the game.

My old rock band stock kit was just not cutting it for me. It was too loud, fragile, and would frequently skip notes that I hit, killing my multipliers and holding back my potential top scores. All of these issues have been fixed since i bought the ION drums set. I love it and would gladly pay $600 for the enjoyment it brings me. A MUST-HAVE for rock band drummers.

Now if only they could come out with a perfect guitar like the ION drumset is a perfect drumset.

On a side note, Amazon was great in the shipping process. It arrived a whole week earlier than they estimated it would, taking only 5 days from order to arrival.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice for the price - But upgrade everything
The pads are OK, but don't have a lot of bounce. The cymbals are loud, and difficult to tune, and the foot pedal is substandard, but definitely a step up from the rockband 2 stock drum set. But - if you upgrade the pads and cymbals, it gets VERY cool. I replaced all of the pads and cymbals with my Roland V-Drums, positioned everything "correctly" and now expert is like the real thing. I wish I would/could have ordered just the brain, because in the end, it was all I needed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Is it worth it? ...maybe.
I bought this kit for two reasons. 1. My Rock Band set finally exploded after pounding on it for almost a year. 2. I got better at playing and wanted to take it to the next level.

As I got better at playing, it required me to hit harder and faster, which eventually caused my Rock Band 1 drums to fail. Also, as I progressed to some of the harder songs on expert level, the stock Rock Band drums are just not good enough. You can make it through the songs without failing, but that's no fun. So I was at a crossroads. I could get another Rock Band drumset for relatively cheap, or go with the Rocker. I figured I would go with the rocker and I am glad I did.

This kit is quite solid. I am not a drummer and have no experience with real drums, so I cannot compare it to real drums, but in comparison to the plastic Rock Band drums, the difference is night and day. You can bang on these for hours on end for weeks at a time, without fear that you are going to break them. Also, they are quite "bouncy" for lack of a better term, so that makes playing those really fast rolls a lot easier. The pedal is metal, so no worrying about it breaking, and no more fixes crafted from butter knives and duct tape.

The kit works in Guitar Hero World Tour as well, which is a plus, even though it gets "dumbed down" to Rock Band drums in the game. Not a big deal, its still functional.

Once I have conquered game drumming, I have the option to add any Alesis Drum Module, which can be had on [...], and then use the rocker as an electronic drum kit. I get on a kick every once in a while where I like to make a crummy attempt at recording my own music, and this fills the void of not having drums or a drummer.

Overall this is a fantastic piece of equipment and I have no complaints whatsoever. Sure, the price is a little steep for some folks, but it will improve your game play without a doubt, and if you have any desire to hook it to your computer for 'cheap' easy recording, with a small footprint, and no loud noise of real drums, its perfect.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great set
I just opened mine got it set up and I love it. Wish it came with the 3rd cymbal but I guess I'll upgrade later. one word of caution be careful tightening the wingnuts on the bottom of the drum pads. My roommate broke one already but thanks to some industrial glue we have the piece back together and hopefully it will hold. The ring that holds the supports in has a pretty skinny bolt attached to it which will pull right off (break) if you apply too much force. Don't tighten it expecting it to stop turning ... the plastic on the wingnut will just compress and keep pulling the bolt til it snaps
