Rating: - Iomega USB 2.0 320GB Prestige Portable HD
I have been using this drive for about a month now and it has worked very well. The data transfer rate tops out at about 20-25 MB/min. One thing that may not be obvious when you read about this drive is that it may require the use of two USB ports on your pc. The reason for that is extra power may be needed. I have used it successfully on a laptop and destop pc using just one USB port. The only concern I have with this drive is that the provided cable does not fit tightly enough into the drive and will easily become disconnected if the drive is moved around even just a little bit. In my opinion that is a big deal for a portable drive. Other than the connection issue it has worked very well for the last month. In the future I would probably buy a different brand based on the poor physical connection between the cable and drive.
Rating: - Great Drive
So far this drive is everything I wanted. Small, easy to use, plug and play.
Rating: - A great product
I bought the Iomega as a backup drive and have had nothing but great success with it. I love how compact it is and how easy it is to use. You don't need to lug around a power cord, just a small usb connector. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a compact and reliable hard drive.
Rating: - Great product
This is a great product from Iomega, the only thing keeping this product from obtaining a 5 star rating is he fact that it does not come with a case for carrying it. Aside from that this is a great product.
Rating: - poorly made and worse customer service
I purchased the 320gb Iomega "prestige" drive against my better judgment since I have recently had poor results from Iomega drives (two failures in three months.) This drive is not prestigious but is instead a low end poorly made drive. The usb female port in the drive is poorly made and does not hold onto the male end of the cable. I could I suppose attach some electrical tape to the cable and try to secure it to the drive, but that sounds like a poor choice when we're talking about important date transfers. So I called customer service, they said, sorry, we can only exchange the device (no refunds) and I had to pay the return charges. Tried to speak to a supervisor, but he was "unavailable" (after a five minute hold). These are tough times and those sort of answers are a clear signal (along with a shoddily produced product) that Iomega is not the company that one wants to use these days for data storage. So potential buyers BEWARE.
