Amazon.com Product Description:
Ubisoft brings you the freedom of the mountains with Shaun White Snowboarding for PlayStation 3. Developed in close collaboration with Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White, Shaun White Snowboarding lets you create your own experience in the game. Whether you choose to compete and do tricks in the terrain park, or carve new paths in the back country, the choice is yours.

Get massive air and perform different tricks. View larger.

You can shoot videos and upload them for others to see. View larger.
Freedom to Ride on Four Different Mountains
Gamers have their choice of four mountains -- Alaska, Park City, Europe (Alps), and Japan -- each offering a different kind of terrain and feel, as well as landscapes and views. Alaska, for example, has a lot of peak boarding with features such as avalanches and ice chasms. Park City, the famed resort in Utah, features buildings and layouts from the actual resort.

The mountains are huge, with incredible graphics that allow you to see dynamic elements up to 20 miles away. As you ski, objects and locations far away in the distance, such as the base of the mountain, become larger and larger, and the background has the feel of a real, live environment rather than a static image.

Within each mountain, there are peak, back country, and park (resort) areas that provide a variety of gameplay. Just as you would expect, there are plenty of trails on each mountain, with each slope rated from green circle (easy) to double black diamond (extremely difficult).

Race, Do Tricks, Carve New Paths
Shaun White Snowboarding lets you do anything you want at a mountain: you can speed down the fastest slopes, get massive air and do tricks on the half-pipe, and even throw snowballs at other boarders.

By using a combination of the right analog stick and left trigger, you can perform a ton of different tricks on the ground, in the air, and on rails. The game was designed with realistic physics, so each trick looks and performs just as you'd expect it to see it in real life.

While you go down a mountain, you'll see various challenges scattered along the way, such as grinding on rails or specific tricks on the half-pipe.

When you get to the bottom, you can take off your board and hop on a chair or a helicopter to get back to the top and find a new trail.

In the single player mode, Shaun White serves as your mentor as you complete different challenges and competitions until you become good enough to put your skills up against Shaun White himself.

Share the Mountain with Other Online Players
Shaun White Snowboarding also features online multiplayer gameplay. Players can create their own challenges and participate with other online boarders, compete in half-pipe competitions, and even battle it out in straight racing down a trail. With mountains populated by real gamers, you'll feel like you're really out there on the slopes. A standout feature is the video camera that lets you film other boarders doing tricks and upload them for everyone to see.

As you win competitions and do challenges, you earn cash that can be used to purchase new apparel, boards, bindings, and more -- all designed to make your character unique and your gaming experience more fun.

Perhaps one of the most satisfying things you can do is hurl a snowball at another player and talk a little trash afterwards.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - So bad it hurts
Having played snowboarding games for years and finally getting a PS3 this Christmas, I was really looking forward to this game. I figured, without an SSX game available, I was stuck with this but it couldn't be that bad, could it? Boy, was I wrong. Boring and bad all rolled into one. I gave it two stars as it is nice to look at. I can't for the life of me figure out why you just can't race or pull tricks -- even if you suck at it. I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to games (though we didn't have an Atari 2600 growing up -- we did have an Intellivision) so I don't think I'm missing some part of the gameplay or setup. That said, maybe it's me that sucks. Then again, I'm pretty sure it's this 'game'. Look elsewhere for your entertainment.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - This game blows!
I got it for Christmas, excited to finally have a snowboarind game on the PS3. I sold my 360 to get a PS3 shortly after buying Amped 2. This game can not even stand in the same category as Amped 1 or 2. In Amped 2, the physics felt great, the hang time was enjoyable and the trick engine was fairly easy to get use to. The physics in this game are absolutely awful! You jump off a cliff, fall at what seems like 500mph, and then come slamming to a horribly screeching halt when you near the ground...and then get some weird reverb hiccup before you start riding again. It feels so clumsy. I always saw Amped as trying to be a boarding simulator with outrageous airs and SSX as a more arcade style, but exhilarating boarding experience...this game does neither, it just pisses you off. I would pass, all the way. Here's still hoping for a decent PS3 game!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun but glitchy
This is the first good snowboarding game to come out on the PS3 and it is very enjoyable! The gameplay is good, although I really did not enjoy the coin collecting part of it. I did not give it 5 stars because of the coins and the glitches. Make sure to beat Shaun White on the halfpipe and do not quit or you will have to restart the game again. This happened to me and it sucked! Besides this minor annoyance though I think this is a great game!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Where is the next gen?
I can't see how this game sells for sixty bucks brand new! On top of that I'm still kicking myself for buying it local for sixty bucks!! I have several complaints about this game. The half pipe has a glitch, the game is straight up boring. After three hours I collected all the coins and have the best boards, there is no content. I'm glad I can throw snowballs at Shaun for puting his name on such a peice of @*$&%!!! I am a snowboarder and I play these types of games to get me through the summer. This got me through an afternoon, with frustration and buyers remorse. I'm still left wondering WHERE IS THE NEXT GEN? I've been playing all of the snowboarding games since the NES, this one makes no advances, if anything it takes a step back. Cool boarders and SSX are far superior then this game will ever be.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Finally
Finally we get a good snowboarding game. The graphics are very good, and the game play is amazing. The freedom to ride where you want with friends makes this game 5 stars. I would advise this for anyone who likes extreme sports games.
