Product Description:
MLB 07: The Show delivers online baseball action the way it should be. The franchise now introduces the all-new Road to The Show mode, enabling gamers to play both offense and defense from the created player's perspective. With the Adaptive Pitching Intelligence (API) feature, catchers will call the game based on the individual strengths and weaknesses of each pitcher as well as analyze tendencies of batters. Gamers will now have the ability to either trust the pitches called by the catcher or shake them off. Online League Play offers customizable leagues with up to 30 teams, complete with full stat tracking, point benefits and rewards. The My Sliders feature allows users to create their perfect game settings and upload them to the MLB 07 The Show server for others to try out.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Fun,but also flawed.
The time I've owned this game has been like a love/hate relationship. There are some things that separate this game from any other baseball game out there, like the Career Mode for example.Just the Career Mode alone gives this game hours and hours of replay value, and if you had a social life you can kiss it goodbye. But unfortunately, the entire experience isn't always fun.

My first problem with this game is the umpires.Whether you turn the umpire personality option on or off, they will still make some TERRIBLE calls more times than not.The strike zone never seems to be consistant, and eventually it does end up costing you a lot.

Then there is the AI.Sometimes they can be Einsteins, and sometimes they're as dumb as a rock. For example,I can strike out 15 batters and pitch a shutout one game, then the very next they can hit any pitch I throw.Literally,I can throw something completely out the strike zone and they'll hit it into the stands every time. And there are times when I'm fielding a ground ball and accidentally throw it over the first baseman's glove, and he'll just stand there. So if I don't run and get the ball I threw in a matter of time, the opposing batter can get an inside the park home run from a stupid minor error.

So while it is fun to develop your player in the career mode, the umps and AI can make it hellish as well.If Sony can fix up these problems for 08:The Show,it could be without a doubt the best baseball game ever made.

3.5/5

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A Showing in Frusteration
I bought a PS 3 and since I love baseball games I knew I had to buy one, I had the standard pick between MLB 2K7 and MLB 07' The Show. I choose The Show for no reason other than it was the first one I put my hands on, after I got it home and ogled about how great the graphics look I started to really play it and look at it. That is where the fun stopped, after I was done being wowed by the graphics. My biggest complaint is with the pitching set up, I am a meter guy... I like using the meter to throw my pitches. I didn't have any problems in 07 The Show on my PS 2, it would seem that when they ported it.. they took the pitching meter, tweaked it and made it ultra sensitive. If you don't stop the backswing of the meter right on the line (or really, really close to it)... well you might as well forget it.. it is a ball. Even if you manage to stop it right on the line sometimes it is a ball. Another gripe with the pitching, when you line up your pitch in this game... you are setting up the break point... not the finishing point. So unless you have played through it a million times and know EXACTLY how each pitcher's pitches break.. you are going to be throwing a lot of balls.. A LOT OF BALLS. It would also seem to me that the computer seems to play perfect ball even on the easiest setting and you are left playing not so perfect ball. Basically this title was a lot frustration than it was worth in my opinion but it was still somewhat fun and the graphics are amazing!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Best Baseball Game for ps3
i initially bought 2k7 for the flashy graphics- but the horrendous framerate and joe morgan drove me away.

thank goodness this is available til the next MVP game arrives. the pitching is challenging and the batting interface is excellent. the guess pitch system makes for good, patient ABs - you might actually take a walk a couple times a game, which generally doesn't happen in video game baseball. as a pitcher you need to take care- pitches will not go exactly where you want them to. you won't be throwing no hitters right off the bat- again, another refreshing element to a baseball sim.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Can't Wait for Next Year's Version!
I don't mean that as a knock on this game, it is a compliment. This year's game was very good and was only the first next gen offering, so I can imagine how next year's will be. I just recently purchased a PS3 and this was the first game on my radar. I've been playing MLB 2K7 on the 360 until this point. Overall, this game is definitely superior. The gameplay is excellent. The presentation is very good, much like a TV broadcast. I think I was most surprised by the quality of the presentation. The graphics are certainly not as pretty as 2K7, but the animations are better and again, this is only their first next gen attempt. There are some glitches, but that is to be expected and none are so bad that they ruin the experience. At least none that I have encountered. Overall I highly recommend this game!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - good game, but bad glitches
the game itself is a servicable baseball game - plays well, the new road to the show feature is incredibly addictive! However, there are just too many glitches to make it worth your time and the 60 dollars. The major issue I've had (and heard others have) is the game freezing on the loading screen - It happens OFTEN! (and by that I mean, more often than not happening) - I'm sure one could peruse the message boards of fight with technical support to find some way aroud it, but honestly for 60 dollars I expect many things of this software - one of which is not to fail to delivery on the most critical functionality - this issue is exacerbated by the fact that there appears to be no auto save feature.
in summation - good game, cool new features - with sub par graphics for the platform (I expected much more here!) and basically a complete inablitiy to consistently save game/season progress.
ones mans experience - hope it helps.
