A warrior's rite
You are members of the Dragon's Shade, an elite squad of mystical warriors with the ability to absorb power from those you defeat. Although you have loyally served King Halaskar, you have reason to believe he is being corrupted by ultimate dark forces. Sensing your distrust, Halaskar sends you off to quell an uprising in the barbaric borderlands. However, upon your return home, to your utter amazement, you find the land of Dureth a horribly changed place.

Greater sources reveal to you that it is very possibly your own king who is responsible for brutally torturing and mindlessly killing many of the innocent people whom you were once sworn to protect. In order to save your Kingdom and restore peace and order to the lands, you and you comrades agree that the only solution is to assassinate the king.

On your journey, get ready to explore mystical lands drenched with deceit and betrayal as you venture to save your people. Teleport to the first site of anguish, the Sunken Cathedral located in a flooded portion of the city where the king's sorcerers have animated the long-drowned people to keep them in eternal pain. Or battle your way through The Kiln, a terrifying place where Halaskar relentlessly burns citizens alive to further fuel his power. Race to The Grinder: a gigantic machine that mixes unwilling slaves with blades and saws and save Dureth before it is too late.

The future of your Kingdom lies in your hands...

Opportunity knocks
Encounter numerous foes on your quest and defeat them with skills beyond your wildest imagination. Encounter the following four characters as you attempt to put an end to Halaskar's madness:

Warrior- The awesome might of his steel-clad fists leave a trail of shattered bodies in his path. His magical abilities mirror his physical strength. This includes rippling shockwaves, controlled blasts of force, and other earthshaking attacks.

Scout- Using shadow magic, poisonous attacks, and vicious direct assaults, the Scout is a fierce close-quarters combatant. Her agility and skill with bladed weapons giver her an almost snake-like appearance as she weaves through throngs of enemies.

Mage- The Mage wields a staff in addition to his mastery of arcane elements. The Mage's basic attacks are weaker than the other classes but he makes up for it with his commanding power over the elements of fire and ice.

King- Halaskar is a man driven by the pursuit of power an security. When Halaskar assumed the throne, he vowed to secure the Kingdom of Dureth from al aggressors once and for all. Yet as the years passed, the kingdom descended deeper and deeper into an era of war and suffering. Today, rumors whisper of great atrocities against the people of Dureth...atrocities committed by monsters bearing the King's orders.

Not only does Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom feature rich next-generation visuals and engaging combat, but it also offers players a unique multiplayer online co-op mode. Take on Halaskar yourself or ask a friend to join you on your quest. Either way, the Kingdom hangs in the balance, and a world looks your way for help.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Sony Online rushes out another launch title.
Snowblind Studios reinvented the Action RPG genre for consoles back in 2001 with Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance. A game that was more Diablo II than Baldur's gate, but that did not hold the title back. It combined superb artwork, character design and technically proficient graphics showing console owners what the hype was about action RPGs.

It was fast paced, contain lots of replay value, co-op and a nifty little story.
They licensed out their game engine to other developers for BGDA2, FalloutBOTS, Bard's Tale... to lesser success.

They left the BGDA to work for Sony to make the well received Everquest spin off, Champions of Norrath. It had the same spiffy graphics of BGDA only this time set in Sony's universe. They followed up CoN w/ the much more player friendly although bug ridden Champions Return to Arms. RTA had much better pacing and a deeper combat and item system. Unfortunately it was loaded w/ game cripping bugs that actually turned many features of the game into misleading wasteful time sinks.

They later went on to make Justice League Heroes, combing BGDA w/ the DC license. It received very mixed reviews, but definitely scratched an itch for DC fans and people wanting at least some decent looking character renders of their favorite heroes.

For some reason Sony abandoned the well liked Champions series and started a new "franchise" the "Untold Legends" w/ 2 PSP games and eventually a PS3 game.

The PSP games were barely mediocre at best w/ muddy graphics, and boring quests. They tried to "cartoon" it up for the PSP sequel and this barely improved the franchise.

For the PS3 launch they rushed out Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. A game so poorly received people wondered if it was a bad joke, making fun of the lackluster next gen graphics and been there done that gameplay.

Sony tried something different w/ the UL series. Instead of hack and slash built on eye popping art design, standard RPG trappings and a nice paced fun balance they went instead for flashy attack combos and combat more akin to action games like God of War instead of traditional action RPG combat.

The result is a game that is barely a RPG, and not a very good "action" game either.

On the bright side it will make you appreciate Baldurs Gate and Champions RTA that much more as Snowblind shows it is difficult to make the super bowl every year.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Endgame
Somewhat fun hack-n-slash, loot grabbing. Though there are a limited number of armor options after a while.

The endgame stinks.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this game
Im an avid gamer and this game was just what I needed. I bought Ultimate Alliance and found that game extemely annoying and boreing. But this game is a GREAT Action RPG. I started playing it at a friends house, for a good 5 hours straight. I gave it a couple of days and was wanting more so I had to buy it. Graphically not the greatest looking game, but its an action RPG, and a damn good one at that. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good Action RPG, a must have IMO. A blast with friends. I couldnt find this game anywhere but here. Thats prolly why they raised the price.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Dark Kingdom
Not as good as the psp untold legends,
but ok

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - mediocre
Talk about a waste of the ps3's hardware, the ps3 is the most advanced system out and this game looks worse then a ps2 game! The gameplay is so so for a slasher game. Please sony, bring a new everquest to the ps3!
