Product Description:
Get handheld action with one of the most ambitious and exciting games to hit the GBA this year. A prequel that takes us back to the origins of the Turok lineage follow the hero, Tal'Set as he fights his nemesis Captain Tobias Bruckner in 1886 Texas. During the battle, a rift between their world and the Lost Lands opens and Tal'Set is sucked into it. You play as Tal'Set. Injured and near death, he is nursed back to health by the natives of the River Village, a colony in hiding from the Lost Land's greatest threat: the Lord Tyrannus and his reptilian hordes. Tal'Set becomes a reluctant participant in the brutal war that is raging in the Lost Land. Bent on a "holy mission" to purify the land through slaughter and misery, Tyrannus appoints a new general to his armies, and Tal'Set discovers to his horror that it is Bruckner, who was also swept into the Lost Lands through the rift. Turok: Evolution is an epic adventure of treachery, exploration, and war in a land of lush jungles, suspended cities, mysterious temples, reptile armies and towering dinosaurs.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - one of the best turok
this is one of the best turok games besides n64.I borrowed it from my friend and I LOVE IT!It has alot of blood and it gets easy.I want to buy it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not what I expected.
This game was not what I expected at all. I am a fan of the Xbox version so, when I played this version, I was very disappointed. The story line is totally different from Turok:Evolution on the Xbox. The gameplay is ok, graphics are ok. It might be ok for some but I was just so disappointed that it was so different from the Xbox version

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly good for the most part
The only thing that Turok Evolution for the GBA has in common with its' console bretheren is the game title, but if you played any other Turok game for the older GameBoy systems than you would have expected that already. This side scrolling surprisingly hard action title is very reminiscent of Neo-Geo's Metal Slug series of 2-D side scrolling action shooters in terms of gameplay, and the is reminiscent of Konami's classic Contra series in terms of difficulty and unending onslaught of enemies. You get to pick to play as either Turok or Djunn and go through 20 action packed levels with guns blazing racing towards the end of the level just trying to survive. You'll come across hordes and hordes of human, alien, and dinosaur enemies; all of whom will no doubt score plenty of hits against you until you hit them back. The fourth level in each area pits you against a boss and changes the game viewpoint to a semi-first person mode (similar to arcade shooters like Silent Scope and Time Crisis) where you must line up crosshairs to defeat some very big bosses. If you can get past the unrelenting difficulty you'll find some pretty good gameplay with Turok Evolution; the graphics are pretty well rendered, the sound is standard GBA fare, and the controls are tight. All in all, this is a better game than I thought it would be.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I like this fun and aggressive contra-style game
Summary: Turok Evolution feels a lot like super contra in the arcade years back. Players can get lots of weapons and use them to destroy lots of bad guys.

Players choose one of two characters to play as in this side-scrolling shooter. I love contra and metal slug style games, and I really like this game too. I am happy gameboy advance offers this game.

Gameplay: The two characters are similar. One is a Native American-his secondary weapon is an axe he can throw. The other character is a muscular rough and tough looking guy-his secondary weapon is a chain with a blade on the end that he swings out at bad guys. He can use this chain to hang from many ceilings. While hanging he can rock back and forth and then let go to fly forward. It's useful to reach some places.

The game plays fast and intense. I think its a ton of fun. Enemies spawn often, and it's fun to destroy them. Weapons include a pistol, machine gun, flame thrower, laser, heavy machine gun, shotgun, and rocket launcher. Players can also find a more powerful version of each gun. In the same order as the weapons, their powered-up versions are laser pistol, 3-way gun, green flame thrower with more power and longer reach, reflective laser, super heavy machine gun, 2-way shotgun that fires green flame, and homing rocket.
Weapons are found throughout the levels, and players can pick them up to add them to their arsenals.

Aside from running, players climb ladders and jump over pits and boulders while destroying enemies.

Occasionally a level is viewed from behind the character's shoulder like the terminator 2 arcade game. Players move a crosshairs to shoot bad guys. I like these occasional levels; they add some nice variety.

Graphics: I like the graphics. Most guns look great when they fire. THe shotgun expels a brilliant flame as it fires, and the three-way gun fires flashing bluish green lasers. THe rockets and regular pistol look good, but I expected more flair because contra in the arcade had more flair. THe bullets are yellow balls, and the rockets look like rockets, but they don't look ultra powerful to me.

THe foregrounds are nice with barracks, boulders, jungles, street lights, city streets, and other cool stuff.

The backgrounds look sharp; I really like the city level; I think it's the third level.

The characters and enemies look good, they could look a little sharper; I don't have a clear sense of their animations or bodies.

Overall I think the graphics do a good job; they work for me.

Sound: THe sound isn't bad, but it's not wonderful. Right now, I can't remember specific toons, but when I play, the music adds to the aggressive feelings I enjoy when I play.

Sound effects are fun, but do not stand out in my memory. I was hoping for deeper gun sound effects; many of them have a flat bang sound, and I was hoping for more exotic gun sound effects. I do like both shotgun sound effects.
