Rating: - Superb Product
I must admit I needed this accessory for a somewhat nefarious purpose, not at all for playing video games but for the XBOX Media Center application I run on my XBOX console. The Microsoft authorized "Advanced A/V Pack" delivers optical audio but no component video, condemning users to 480i SD resolution. This was ok back in 2001 but today watching a DVD in 480i creates the dreaded ghosting effect and generally looks poor.
This accessory combined with a recent build of XBMC (Xbox Media Center) delivers the ultimate media center front-end. 480p/720p/1080i all look brilliant and the entire XBMC product looks all the more spectacular in High Definition.
Highly recommended for anyone running XBOX Media Center on their XBOX consoles.
The day my XBOX1 finally dies, err... I don't even want to think about that day!
Rating: - It's A Big Difference
So even though the xbox360 is right around the corner, I decided to spend the extra twenty for now to play games on my new HDTV in the meantime. The picture quality using the regular red-white-yellow cables was not very good. The picture wasn't sharp, the color and brightness wasn't up to par, it just didn't look very good compared to playing it on a regular TV. Using the component cables brings back the sharpness and vivid brightness and color. You of course see the 'jaggies' more because the resolution on an HDTV is significantly higher, but overall the games look better than they ever have. If you have an HDTV, and an xbox, these component cables for the xbox are a must have.
Rating: - A Must-Have for HDTV's
When I first bought my $3,200 42" Flat-screen Plasma TV, I was so excited to hook it up to my new $350 Sony Dream System with built-in Surround to watch movies. The DVD quality was disappointing to say the least. I bought Component cables, and I didn't notice any difference. I hooked up my PS2 (RCA cables) and was disappointed in the bad picture. I hooked up my XBOX (RCA) and was again disappointed. I rented Doom3 and had to take it to my friend's house and play it on his small projection TV just so I could make out what was going on. I was recently home on vacation (US Navy in Japan) and ran into these Component Cables at an EB Games store. I figured they would show me the same disappointing difference as the DVD component cables, but I figured they were only $20, so it was worth the shot. When I got back to Japan, I hooked them up to my XBOX expecting the same results as with the DVD Player. I noticed the end going to the XBOX was rather large and examined it to find that I could plug in an optical audio cable, so I hooked that up to my Sony Dream System. When I turned the XBOX on and went to settings, I noticed a completely different menu for video/audio options. I turned everything on, because my TV and Dream System are supposed to support them. When I put in Halo 2, I couldn't believe the difference! The opening movie was so sharp, I don't think the picture could have been any better unless the game was MADE better. The 480p game was awesome! I'm not as disappointed in my Plasma TV as I was before. I'm going to buy the Component cables for my PS2 and see if I get the same results. If anyone has any suggestions as to why my DVD player didn't show me the same results, please let me know!

I looked around for third party component cables for my XBOX before deciding on this one. I was glad I did. Both the picture and sound quality improved so much that I now just leave it connected to my basement front projector.
Initially I had used the RCA audio cables. Then I decided to use the optical cable and connect it to my Onkyo 7.1 Surround Receiver. The difference in sound was noticeable. I was switching between the analog and digital sound source from the AMP and it is definitely better.
The games have so much BASS now that it shakes the room. I have the SVS PC-Ultra subwoofer the entire experience is exceptional.
