Rating: - Most Balanced Fighter Ever
There are many fighting games out there in our modern video game world, but few stand out so much that it is a veritable sin to not play this game if you are a fighting game fan. This is that fighter. Capcom vs. SNK 2 is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the most balanced fighting game ever created. It has 50+ fighter, multiple ways to play multiplayer (Ratio, 3-way-, and single), 6 different ways (called Grooves) to fight with them. The Groove system is one of the best parts, allowing you to play Ryu like a King of Fighter's character, or Rock Howard Like he is from Street Fighter III. The choice is yours. And no character is overpowered with the way the priorities are done. Even the God character's can be trounced with proper defensive playing.
Ending point is, if you like fighting games and consider yourself one of the best, you truly get to test your mettle with this game. And note this, the PS2 version is a RARE find, so if can get it for the PS2 for cheap, jump on the opportunity.
Rating: - Second best Vs title of all time
Having spent my free time as a youth in the arcades, I grew attached to 2D brawlers. This videogame combines characters from an assorted number of them, from the cult classics like Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Showdown.
Sadly, the roster could have been more epical, for lack of a better word. There are unpopular characters used only to counter the look-alikes from the rival company, most notably Maki Genryusai, a Final Fight character, and Mai Shiranui, the infamously voluptuous SNK female mascot.
Unlike the better-casted Marvel vs. Capcom 2, however, this Vs game has austere input commands, so making devastating super combos is actually challenging (but not as much as in the Alpha series).
This is a superb multiplayer game for those children of the Eighties. Don't count on single player replay value, though; there is close to none.
Rating: - My favorite fighting game of all time!
A huge selection of characters for endless gaming... This isn't a game you play over a weekend and never touch again. If you like fighting games, this is a must have.
If you're interested in buying this I highly recommend having a arcade already with this game or a friend/people to play with or it can get pretty dull. I also recommend playing with an acade stick opposed to a controller.
Rating: - One of the Greatest Fighters of All Time
I've played fighting games all my life. I'm a Huge fighting game enthusiast. I've mastered all sorts of fighting games from mortal kombat, street fighter series, king of fighters, darkstalkers, killer instincts (rememebr that),tekken, DOA, soul calibur, virtua fighter, mvc2, guilty gearx2, etc................ So now that you know that, you can take my word when I say that THIS GAME IS AWESOME AND YOU GET EVERY BUCK YOU PAY FOR. This game is literally 2d fighting mastered. You get 3on3, ratio, or single matchups. Unlike Marvel vs capcom 2 where you get 56 characters and maybe use a dime out of the dozen, in cvs2 every character can be lethal if you know how to use them. There are also 6 different groove styles and they really do change the way you play your character. Plenty of unlockables- characters and boss mode. Customize your groove and character color. The game has crazy replay value due to it's very wide arrange of variations and modes!! Don't listen to the people complaining about the sprite animation or the backgrounds in this game. The gameplay in this game far outweighs the lack of graphical prowess this game has compared to other games out in the market. Not only that, I've found the MUSIC in this game to be excellent...from the intro to the character selection to the fighting...it really pumps you up and has a cool feel to it. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Look, stop wasting time and BUY THIS GAME especially if you are a fighting game enthusiast!! My current top 3 fighting games on the PS2 are Capcom vs SNK 2, Marvel VS Capcom 2, and Guilty Gear X2. I've had CVS2 and MVC2 for over 5 years and GGx2 for over a year and still play them every so often and at times religiously. I've picked up 3D fighters like Tekken or DOA or Soul Calibur but they seem to bore me quickly and have little replay value.
2D fighters are the best way to go for fighters. Just gotta do it right and Capcom vs SNK 2 is one really great example of how it's done right!
Rating: - Capcom vs SNK 2
This game is really addictive once you start playing it. You get to play with like 40+ characters. With the "Color Edit" option, I could make Balrog look like The Hulk. It has 6 different grooves, plus you can customize it once you unlock this oprion.
While this game's gameplay is excellent, the only problems is the fact that some chracters look dated (like Morrigan and Sagat) and that all the chracters seem a bit pixely not quite as smooth as the Dreamcast version.
But the graphics aren't really what matter in this type of game, specially with cool light effects and such. Many of Capcom's characters have been balanced in oder to compete with the SNK ones (like removing some moves in certain characters and maybe weakening them)
