"If adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones." So says the Temple of Doom movie poster, and--Lara Croft notwithstanding--Indiana Jones is still synonymous with glory, romance, treasure, and adventure. Previous Indiana Jones games were produced by the graphic-adventure game masters at LucasArts. This latest installment is an action-oriented romp made by the Collective, the same development house that produced the critically acclaimed Buffy the Vampire Slayer for Xbox. The Buffy game engine is a good fit for Indy, as he travels the world on a quest to prevent the discovery of an ancient Chinese secret that could spell the end of creation itself.

Such a quest should be easy for an adventurer like Indy, and with game controls that are as well laid out as these, it is easy. Indy can run, jump, shimmy up ropes, swing with his whip, and duke it out with nasty villains. True to the movies, Indy also has to navigate an almost constant stream of deathtraps. Caves full of traps, ruins full of traps, medieval castles filled with traps, and guess what you find in China, yes, more traps. It gets repetitive, but the game has some clever tricks in its floppy hat. For example, skulls make noise, so Indy can toss a few and watch crocodiles target them instead of him.

Indy can execute quick punch combinations to knock his foes out, or he can pick up weapons such as a chair, plank of wood, machete, or firearm. His famous whip can be used to disarm foes. The only problem is the camera, which is difficult to keep in the right position--you have complete control of it, but it's hard to manage a camera while you're fighting a martial arts expert, a Nazi with a gun, or a poacher keen on decapitating Indy.

The graphics are good, pleasantly reminding you of some of the movies' more memorable locales. The in-game Indy mug looks like Harrison Ford down to the chin scar. Other nice touches include how Indy has to actually pick up his hat if it falls off during a fight, and the little '30s plane flying over the aged and weathered world map. The music is pure John Williams, and the voice work is handled by convincing imitators. The guy they got for Indy, in particular, sounds a lot like Ford himself. Sadly no other movie characters of note appear in the game. (I was looking for John Rhys-Davies at least, because he seems to be in every video game that comes out.)

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb does right by its license and provides hours of entertainment for anyone who's ever wanted to relive the movies starring the most exciting adventurer alive. Lara Croft, eat your heart out because if gaming adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones. --Bob Andrews

- Best Indy experience
This is the closest you get to being Indiana Jones. The game is amazing and extremely fun to complete. I know that in the future better Indy games will be made, but for now, this one is the BEST!

This game is awesome. The controls are easy to learn, and the gameplay is great! This game does have some cons though. But we'll get to those later. The game consits of 9 different missons. Each misson is divided up into a random amount of levels. The game has 51 levels total. The 9 missons take you to these places as follows: Ceylon(9 levels), Prauge(13 levels)Istanbul(7 levels), and Hong Kong(4 levels) Yes, I know that's only 4 missons. That's because I'm currently in Istanbul. The guys you fight at the beginning of the game are wimps, but the enemies gradually get stronger as the game continues.The voice overs are superb, and the combat is even better. Want to get a taste of it? In Prauge I snuck up on a guard who was overlooking a ledge. I then shot him with my pistol. He fell overboard. Cool,huh? Now for the cons:No Save Points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Every time you die you have to start at the beginning of the level.Other then that, fun game!

"Indiana Jones and the Emporer's Tomb" is a great game for the PlayStation 2. The action is challenging and the story interesting.

Playing the game, you actually feel like John Williams is conducting the London Symphany Orchestra with every move you make. The music is second to none in video games.

The action is very good as well. Though it takes the action several steps forward in regards to weapons, it is necessary for the games development. The final scenes are very tough.

Every gamer who is a true Indiana Jones fan needs to have this game in their library.

- A good adventure game.
This game starts on Ceylon, and Indy tries to find a artifact, and later goes to China, and Istanbul and Prague. The story is fairly good. The missions are good, as they include racing for you're life from a drill tank, battling off evil spirts with a pacheng, swimming in croc' infested waters, taking on a horrible human like creature, and even killing a kraken with a spear gun and demolition charges. It is challenging, with traps, strong and smart enemies, and incredibly hard bosses. The graphics are O.K, and the voices are O.K. Buy it, but don't if ya' don't like adventure.

- Decent game, especially found at a decent price
First of all this isn't that bad of a game but it's not worth $49, $39 or even $29. If you can find it for $20 or less (perferably less) then it's worth getting. The voice acting is good, despite the slight fuzziness the graphics have at times and no random saves the game is good, especially the story line, almost just like the movies. The main reason I give this game a 3 is because of the Kraken (not the Kraken from the Clash of the Titans movie), is a pain in the A.. literally, I tried to beat him for an hour and gave up, maybe after awhile I'll go back to the game but I'm not in a hurry. The Gates of Neptune level is pretty annoying too, the concept is cool but it can be frustrating. I recommend a strategy guide for this, especially if you're not that good at solving puzzles. If you're a fan of the Indiana Jones series, this is worth having just for that.
