Product Description: Some cars should stay on the pavement, while others are designed to go where no other vehicle has gone before. Those are the vehicles included in TEST DRIVE OFF ROAD. You can choose from four different vehicles: a Hummer, Land Rover Defender 90, Jeep Wrangler and Chevrolet K-1500 Z71. In addition to the four starting vehicles six more become available with extended play and include a monster truck, dune buggy, stock car, hot rod, Mini Cooper, and an off-road beetle. When you are ready to race there is a Mixed League and Class League to choose from. Mixed League is open to any vehicle and Class League restricts the entries to vehicles of a particular type. While you are racing the 12 tracks offer three different surfaces including dirt, snow, and rocks. Try to master the elements and go where other cars can't with TEST DRIVE OFF ROAD.
Editorial Review: The ubiquitous Test Drive series is back. The latest culprit is Test Drive Off-Road 3 for the Game Boy Color. For a pintsize handheld game, Off-Road 3 is packed with options, including a single-race mode and seven increasingly difficult tournament cups that extend over 24 tracks and eight locations.
Players earn cash by winning racers. Your newfound loot can be used to purchase any of 10 licensed off-road machines. Power-ups, which are rewarded for solid finishes, can be used to increase your speed and traction. These special boosts can come in handy for stranded players that are anxious to get back on track.
A welcome feature is the police-chase mode, in which players try to bump and cite as many racers as possible. As a bonus, the cartridge comes with a built-in rumble feature that lets you feel the action as you speed through mud, dirt, ice, and sand. It's just too bad the graphics are too small to appreciate all the different off-roaders. --Robb Guido

Rating: - Test Drive Off-Road 3 Rules!!
Of all the GB racing games I've played ( and I've played a truck-load of them), this blows all the other racers away. There are 25 tracks, 10 authentic trucks and SUVs, and 6 cups (amature, semi-pro, pro, summit, grizzly, and mammoth). Each track has plenty of shortcuts and the advanced map will show you where they are! The overhead view is very helpful, also. The graphics won't blow you away, but they're nothing to be ashamed of. Overall, this is the best game boy racer out there.
TIP: If you go over a jump after you use a power burst, you go super high and it makes you go a long way.
Rating: - OK, BUT NOT BEST
When I got testdrive off road 3, I was exited. I turned on my GB and I had a blast. It lasted a little before it got boring. I still play it, but it not super doper fun like it use to be. The game is like a side scroller with graphic JUST like Pokemon. (That type of semi-3D) There are like 5 or 6 trucks. You can tune your truck with pionts, like, you win a race in 1st, then you get 3 pionts. It has a biult in save batterie, not the AAA rumble batterie. there are 6 locations, 4 tracks in each. (24 tracks) There ARE short cuts, and plenty if em' to. - pionts :It has a good idea, but is missing some stuff, like only 3 componets, tracks are VERY short, like a samll loop. + pionts: All cars can be onscreen at once, not slow down, good graphics and fast gamplay. Thats the review for Testdirve Off road 3.
