Rating: - Good controller, fire button does not always work in racing games.
I was having difficulty in Gran Turismo because the handling is pretty sensitive on the cars, and the regular playstation controllers are not that great for driving/racing games.
I was looking at steering wheels, but they are expensive and plus you have to have quite a bit of space to use the pedals that come with the steering wheels.
So I bought this contoller for only about $10 shipped. It's a good compromise. The wheels works pretty good, and so does the accelerator/gas part of it.
The only problem is the fire button does not always work in some games, and the controller itslef is not compatible with some games, but it is with most of them so far.
The fire button does not work on the game: CTR (Crash Team Racing)! THis sucks cause that is an awesome racing game. BUt you can't shoot the weapons!
Still, the controller is worth it for the low price, at least it works with Wipeout 3! Also does not work at all with Destructin Derby (whish is not that great of a game anyway, don't buy it).
Buy this if you want a cheaper alternative to the bigger steering wheels, it will improve your handling in most games. Just realize it is not fully compatible with all of them, and the fire button may not be compatible with some of them.
I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the fire button not always working. But it's worth buying for $10 or so.

I purchased the Ultraracer right after buying Gran Turismo and have been using it since and even now with Gran Turismo 2. The Ultraracer is a handheld wheel that is extremely responsive (maybe too touchy for some - I like it that way though) and features analog support for not only steering but also acceleration and braking. Both Sony's own analog control as well as Namco's "NegCon" analog control is supported. It has an analog trigger and 2 analog "tall" buttons and controls can be switch and remapped which is easy to do. The wheel itself is 2 inches in diameter and has a nice rubber coating that resists slipping due to sweaty hands and it does work well. I mentioned that the wheel is very responsive and it is due to the fact that the wheel only has 90 deg. turn radius. Like I said, I prefer this but others might not. I feel GT & GT2 needs something this responsive. The controller itself is very well built and is one of the best qualty controllers I've used. I've won so many races I can't even begin to count and the Ultraracer is a big reason for that. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because it is not dual shock. If it were, I would be perfect.
