Rating: - Cool prequel
Explains alot of what is going on before the begining of the movie. I wish they would have had some of this in the movie. Highly recommended.
Rating: - Falls short of expectations
NO major fighting with Optimus Prime!
I saw the awesome movie before I bought this book and I must say that it doesn't provide a lot of background or history of the Transformers as some readers would expect. I was hoping this book would give an extensive explantion of the events that lead to the beginning of the war between autobots and decepticons, but instead it only gives a brief telling using flashbacks. However, this book does fill in a few gaps in the movie, but nothing really exciting, and only a few new characters are introduced.
Rating: - Transformers
This is a fitting prequel to the Transformer Movie. It fills in some holes and clears up some of the questions that may come up in the movie. It was well written and illustrated.
Rating: - Great Timefiller til the Movie
I read all four issues that comprise this TPB online, and was fairly impressed witht the result. Basically, it tells the story of the Transformers before they come to Earth in search of the All-Spark, and how it ended up here. We see most of the movie cast of robots in their pre-Earth forms, and the differences in their appearance. We also see how Bumblebee lost his voice, in his first encounter with Megatron. Although some of the artwork is a little too dark to see clearly, overall I was pleased with it. I was reminded of the 1980's Marvel series I loved as a kid, although the artwork of today puts it to shame. There is also a tangential "Issue 0" available exclusively at Target, which focuses solely on Bumblebee, for those completists out there.
